FAQ

Is this website a community project?
No. This website is a collaborative effort from the Water and Woods Network. We evaluated our staff’s material, associated content, and knowledge which clarified our thoughts regarding publishing this site.

Do you take submissions for further references?
We will review submitted references but keep in mind that because this is an ongoing project we may already have your submission in another form written by one of our staff or another submitter.

Can I use your references on my website?
We provide a handy snippet of code with each reference page for every term found at Deer Dictionary. Simply copy the code snippet to your web page to reference the page within Deer Dictionary. A sample of the snippet in action can be viewed below the code.

Can I suggest an edit for a reference found here?
Absolutely. We do make mistakes just like everyone else. If you’ve found something that has been incorrectly published please inform us so that we can address the matter.

I see some listing appear to be wrong.
If you’re referring to a reference, or listing, that begins with the word “deer” or “whitetail” then the listing is probably correct as we use those two phrases as an inoperative. Other references may include an extension word or phrase of the main reference to enhance it’s listing and recognition to the reader. For instance you will find Antler Rattling in the Q-T category as we based the listing on the word rattling but used the word antler as an enhancement. The enhancements will allow for easier and quicker searches due to their common usage.

Are your references your own writings?
Yes. See question number one.
